Heartsaver CPR AED

The Heartsaver CPR AED class is a classroom based class, with video lessons, instructor-led lessons and lots of hands practice. The class is geared towards students with limited or no medical training who need a course completion certification for CPR and AED to meet job regulatory and\or other requirements.

The class is also available to the general public for anyone wanting CPR and AED training.

This is an American Heart Association class.

The course teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive.

Course Content

  • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
  • Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize when someone needs CPR
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
  • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
  • Give effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult
  • Perform high-quality CPR for a child*
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on a child*
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an infant*
  • Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child
  • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant*

*Child and infant modules are optional.

Successful students receive an AHA eCertification valid for two years. The certification will be issued to the email you use to register for the class.

The BLS Provider course for 2025 teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills (CPR, AED) for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. 

This is an American Heart Association class.

What is covered in this course

  • The steps of the Chains of Survival
  • How to perform high-quality CPR for an adult, a child and an infant
  • How to use an AED
  • Effective team dynamics in a multi rescuer resuscitation
  • How to treat special considerations in basic life support
  • How to relieve foreign body airway obstruction for an adult, a child and an infant

During the course there is physical activity and hands-on practice.

Students will be performing physical activity during the course while performing CPR.

At the conclusion of the course students will need to complete the 25 questions written test.

The course is available for all students.

  • Students whose certification has expired
  • Students who are taking BLS for the first time
  • Students who prefer learning in a classroom environment
  • Students who have a non AHA BLS Provider certification.

You do not have to be a medical professional to take this class. Non-medical personnel can take this class for CPR and AED training and receive the same AHA BLS certification.

The BLS Provider Student Manual is required for each student for this class.

The BLS Renewal Class is for those who are currently AHA BLS certified and needing to renew their certification.

This is an American Heart Association class.

The BLS Renewal course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills (CPR, AED) for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. 

Students are required to have a currrent AHA BLS Provider certification for this class. 

If you do not have a current AHA BLS Provider certifiation you can register for a BLS Provider or a BLS Heartcode\Skills checkoff class.

  • How to use an AED

Esta clase de reanimación cardiopulmonar (RCP) integral está diseñada para equipar a los participantes con las habilidades necesarias para responder ante emergencias cardíacas y respiratorias en personas de todas las edades
. Durante el curso, aprenderá a reconocer las señales de un paro cardíaco y cómo realizar maniobras de salvamento adaptadas específicamente para adultos, niños y bebés. Debido a las diferencias anatómicas, la capacitación cubre técnicas variadas: desde el uso de ambas manos para compresiones profundas en adultos, hasta el uso de solo dos dedos o los pulgares con una profundidad menor en lactantes.
Además de las compresiones torácicas y la respiración de rescate, el programa suele incluir instrucción sobre el uso del desfibrilador externo automático (DEA) y cómo actuar en casos de atragantamiento. Al finalizar con éxito, los graduados estarán preparados para brindar atención inmediata y efectiva, lo cual es fundamental para aumentar las posibilidades de supervivencia mientras llega la ayuda médica profesional.
